C. S. Lewis kirjoittaa tarkkanäköisesti näistä toisilleen vastakkaisista käsityksistä. Hän kommentoi mielipiteitä, joita mm. historioitsijat, luonnontieteilijät, filosofit ja teologit ovat esittäneet.

Kirja tarjoaa välineitä kristinuskoon liittyvien ihmeiden arviointiin. Lewis puolustaa ajatusta, että ihmeitä tapahtuu; ne ovat tilanteita, joissa yliluonnollinen puuttuu luonnon toimintaan. The book offers tools for evaluating miracles related to Christianity. Lewis defends the idea that miracles do happen; they are situations where the supernatural intervenes in the workings of nature. The accounts of the New Testament are full of fascinating miracles, the greatest of which is the incarnation, the birth of God as a man.

Literary researcher and professor Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) is known as the father of the Narnia stories and the author of The Devil’s Letters. He was one of the most significant Christian writers of our time. E.V Rope Kojonen is responsible for the foreword of the book.
